Perfect for complete beginners or anyone looking to refresh their skills, this course introduces you to the fundamentals of machine sewing. Learn how to set up and confidently use a sewing machine, get to know essential sewing terminology and build your skills through hands-on projects each week. SEWING LEVEL 2
GARMENT CONSTRUCTION

This course is designed for those who have basic sewing skills and want to learn how to follow and adapt commercial sewing patterns. You’ll gain confidence in reading patterns, understanding measurements and sizing, navigating terminology, and following step-by-step instructions. Using a pattern of your choice, you’ll be guided through making your first garment or accessory while learning key construction techniques.

SEWING: REPAIR & RENEW

This flexible course covers techniques including hems, darts, simple fit adjustments, repairs, mending and patching. Students can bring their own garments, and be guided to match their skill level and goals. We’ll also explore fabric types, garment construction, and how to assess whether an item or pattern is suitable for alteration or upcycling – building confidence to extend the life of your items, or transform them into new designs.

PAINTING FOR BEGINNERS

In this course students will explore colour mixing and how to create effects with colour. They will learn about materials, brushes, supports and begin individual works. Over the duration they will progress towards the completion of a personal choice project such as a still life, landscape, abstract, pet portrait or self portrait. In the first class, you’ll experiment with provided materials and receive guidance on what basic supplies to bring for future sessions.
