INTRO TO SEWING
Perfect for complete beginners or anyone looking to refresh their skills, this course introduces you to the fundamentals of machine sewing. Learn how to set up and confidently use a sewing machine, get to know essential sewing terminology and build your skills through hands-on projects each week. Along the way, we’ll explore sustainable practices like upcycling and sourcing local fabrics, helping you build confidence while creating practical, beautiful items you can use and enjoy.

SEWING LEVEL 2
GARMENT CONSTRUCTION
This course is designed for those who have basic sewing skills and want to learn how to follow and adapt commercial sewing patterns. You’ll gain confidence in reading patterns, understanding measurements and sizing, navigating terminology, and following step-by-step instructions. Using a pattern of your choice, you’ll be guided through making your first garment or accessory while learning key construction techniques. We’ll also explore clever tips, tricks, and pattern hacks to help you customise your project and bring your personal style to life.

SEWING:
REPAIR & RENEW
This flexible course covers techniques including hems, darts, simple fit adjustments, repairs, mending and patching. Students can bring their own garments, and be guided to match their skill level and goals. We’ll also explore fabric types, garment construction, and how to assess whether an item or pattern is suitable for alteration or upcycling – building confidence to extend the life of your items, or transform them into new designs.

DRAWING FOR BEGINNERS
Learn the fundamentals of drawing through observation, mark making, and a range of techniques and materials. Explore drawing styles, composition, and measuring while building skills in tonal drawing, gesture, and proportion using pencil, pastel, and charcoal. Create observational works including still life and portrait studies, progressing towards a finished piece while gaining confidence and a strong artistic foundation. This course is a great pathway into our Painting for Beginners course.

PAINTING FOR BEGINNERS
In this course students will explore colour mixing and how to create effects with colour. They will learn about materials, brushes, supports and begin individual works. Over the duration they will progress towards the completion of a personal choice project such as a still life, landscape, abstract, pet portrait or self portrait. In the first class, you’ll experiment with provided materials and receive guidance on what basic supplies to bring for future sessions.

VISUAL ARTS
Explore your creativity through mixed media in this dynamic visual arts course.

PAINTING & DRAWING OPEN STUDIO
Bring your own project and work on it over 8 weeks with the guidance of experienced artist and teacher Jane Farnan. Jane will support you to develop your technique and practice.
This program allows for progression from the Drawing for Beginners and Painting for Beginners courses. It is tailored to participants who are seeking support beyond the basics.

GROW IT YOURSELF GARDENING
Learn how to grow and expand your edible garden. In this hands-on course, you’ll learn how to grow fresh, chemical-free food using regenerative methods.
